K-Laser Therapy Frequently Asked Questions

Patient at Marron Wellness Center in need of K-Laser therapy for lower back pain

Our chiropractor at Marron Wellness Center is proud to offer K-laser therapy for the healing of soft tissue injuries.

What is K-laser therapy and why should I consider it for part of my treatment?

K-laser therapy is a form of cold laser therapy. The treatment involves the use of a Class 4 laser. This type of laser light does not cut, burn or otherwise damage the skin. Instead, the light penetrates deep into the soft tissues to stimulate healing and relax muscles, which provides pain relief.

How does laser therapy stimulate healing and reduce pain?

Each cell in your body has an area that can convert light to energy. This helps the cell regenerate by dumping waste products and accepting more nutrients and oxygen via your blood, which increases your rate of healing while reducing inflammation and pain.

What injuries does laser therapy treat?

Laser therapy treats a variety of soft tissue injuries, including back and neck pain, car accident injuries, whiplash, sports injuries, repetitive motion injuries, sprains, strains, sciatic nerve pain, hip injuries and tendonitis among many other types of soft tissue injuries. Laser therapy has even been known to reduce the frequency of muscle spasms.

How many sessions will I need before I notice an improvement?

Many people experience pain relief after the first session. However, it can take between eight and thirty sessions before the pain has fully dissipated. In the beginning, our chiropractor typically recommends between two and four sessions each week for maximum effectiveness.

Are there any side effects associated with receiving treatment?

Cold laser therapy is non-invasive. This means that we do not cut into your skin or remove the hair from the area. Instead the wand is placed over the area to be treated for several minutes. After the treatment, some patients notice a little soreness or redness. This usually dissipates within 24 to 48 hours after the treatment.

Can I combine cold laser therapy with other treatments?

Cold laser therapy can be combined with other holistic and traditional medical treatment options. Here at our chiropractic office, we can use cold laser therapy in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy, spinal decompression and physical therapy.
